JCCBI’s plan to reconstruct the Bonaventure Expressway is part of a sustainable perspective to turn it into a boulevard.
With nearly 20 million trips a year in this sector, JCCBI is building this new boulevard for the next 50 to 60 years. It’s important to have the flexibility to be able to address current and future needs in this area and ensure safety for all users, and transportation of goods.
Main features
The three-lane capacity will be maintained in both directions with a 2+1 configuration and dynamic management of the third lane.
The speed limit will be reduced to 50 km/h in keeping with the speed limits in the surrounding areas.
The median strip and other features will reduce heat islands.
Three intersections with traffic lights will ensure safe movement of people between the green corridor and the business park.
Refuge islands will be incorporated into the median strip so that pedestrians and cyclists can safely cross the boulevard.
