The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) will celebrate Canada Day with a special illumination of the Jacques Cartier Bridge on Wednesday, July 1, every 30 minutes, from 9:25 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.
 

In recognition of this anniversary of the Canadian Confederation, the lights of the bridge core will be red, and the public can also take part in the show! Since the Jacques Cartier Bridge is the first connected bridge in the world, whenever someone uses the hashtag #illuminationMTL on Twitter, the bridge shines even more. Each tweet will produce a red or white “firework” effect on the bridge, and thousands of lights will randomly flicker along the structure. The bridge will take the pulse of Montreal life and reflect it in the intensity, speed and density of its moving lights which vary with mentions of Montreal on social media. Make the bridge shine on July 1st!
 

Please note that the bridge will not be closed to traffic. The multipurpose path will also remain open, but the sidewalk will remain closed due to construction.
 

Then, starting on July 2, the rainbow-coloured illumination of the Jacques Cartier Bridge will continue until the end of July.
