Guy Mailhot, renowned JCCBI civil engineer, receives King Charles III’s Coronation Medal

On March 11 in Ottawa, Guy Mailhot, who has worked as a civil engineer at The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) for 25 years, was awarded the King Charles III’s Coronation Medal in recognition of his commitment, expertise and leadership in major infrastructure projects.

Guy Mailhot was nominated by Housing, Infrastructure and Communities Canada (HICC) in recognition of the positive influence, dedication and essential role played by this experienced engineer, notably on the Samuel De Champlain Bridge and Jacques Cartier Bridge rehabilitation projects. Emeritus member of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering (CSCE) and the Engineering Institute of Canada (EIC), he has also received several other prestigious awards throughout his career.

A source of pride for JCCBI

“It is with great pride and joy that we announce Guy Mailhot’s nomination for this high distinction. Guy has made an outstanding contribution to bridge knowledge and behaviour, and has played a key role in sharing his expertise with the next generation of engineers,” says Sandra Martel, JCCBI CEO.

King Charles III’s Coronation Medal

The Coronation Medal was created to mark the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, which took place on May 6, 2023. This is the first Canadian commemorative medal that marks a coronation.

The Office of the Secretary to the Governor General is responsible for managing the King Charles III’s Coronation Medal program.

This distinction is awarded to an individual who has made a significant contribution to Canada, a province, a territory, a region or a community in Canada, or who has made an outstanding achievement abroad that has brought great honour to our country.

Once again, congratulations Guy on this wonderful achievement!
