JCCBI is pleased to announce that work to develop a piece of land in Kahnawà:ke, near the Honoré Mercier Bridge access ramp from La Prairie toward Montreal, will begin in August 2026.
The project will include the creation of green spaces and trails, alongside with the introduction of artistic components.
The preliminary design concept was identified following a survey and workshops conducted by an Indigenous communications firm with the population of Kahnawà:ke between 2023 and 2024. The final concept was defined based on a public consultation held in 2024, and then presented to the community in 2025.
JCCBI and the Mohawk Council of Kahnawà:ke (MCK) began discussions on redeveloping the land concerned in 2009. The creation of a green space addresses needs expressed by the community during the consultation process.
