Job description

Reporting to the Director of Asset Information and Innovation, you will contribute to the implementation of the Corporation’s asset information management strategy, which is supported by existing tools such as geographic information systems (geomatics), a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and other tools to come, such as a Building Information Modelling (BIM) system. As part of our digital transformation efforts, you will actively analyze scenarios to integrate asset information into existing tools. You will apply your interpersonal skills while working with different internal team members to propose and apply processes and workflows related to the asset information management system. You will also support change management and report to senior managers on any technical issues related to the implementation of the asset information management plans.

To carry out your activities, you must be able to apply the mission of the Asset Information and Innovation Department: “Ensure that each department has the right information to make the best decisions at the right time based on our assets’ life cycle and efficient processes, for the organization’s benefit.”

 

Main responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise to implement the Corporation’s asset information management strategy, which is supported by existing technological tools, such as a geolocation system (geomatics), computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), an electronic document management (EDM) system, and other tools to come, such as a Building Information Modelling (BIM) system and a report and modelling tool.
  • With internal business partners as well as the Information Resources Department and Project Support and Continuous Improvement Department, serve as a geomatics super-user, propose and apply processes and workflows related to the asset information management system, and submit these for approval.
  • With the Senior Asset Information Engineer and the Director, Information Resources Department, review the technological solutions for asset information management, help analyze scenarios to integrate asset information into existing tools, add a new tool and/or system if required, and carry out tests during the development of new solutions.
  • Support change management by applying asset information management plans (particularly established processes and workflows); by promoting technological tools to implement asset information management plans and training and supporting users on how to use these tools; and by resolving any problems that may arise.
  • With the Information Resources team, provide technical expertise to verify the quality, integrity and compliance of information entered into the asset information management systems.
  • Perform data monitoring and control (internal process audits) to ensure that data is managed as per the physical asset inventory management process (under development) and asset information management plans (AIMP).
  • Ensure that asset data is captured and maintained in corporate technology solutions and, based on your analysis, take action to correct any deviation from the AIMP.
  • Provide support and report to senior managers on technical issues related to the implementation of the AIMP and suggest the required measures to resolve these issues.
  • Work with external consultants to develop and digitize the inventory of physical asset and the AIMP.

 

Experience and education

  • Diploma of college studies in civil engineering, geomatics, building data modelling, architecture, or a relevant and equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • At least eight years of relevant experience.
  • Good knowledge of geomatics and familiarity with the ArcGIS system.
  • Good knowledge of REVIT or other 3D modelling tools.
  • Basic knowledge of the Maximo suite.
  • Know how to use AutoCAD software for computer-assisted design (CAD).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and Outlook).
  • Be able to clearly understand and interpret plans, specifications and technical drawings.
  • Show document and report writing skills.

 

Assets

  • Knowledge of infrastructure data modelling (BIM) processes is a strong asset.
