Having begun with the construction of the new JCCBI Maintenance Centre in 2021, the redevelopment of the South Shore entrance to the Jacques Cartier Bridge will enter a new phase on March 31, 2025.
Work slated for the coming months includes demolishing the old toll building, which is no longer in use. The structure is located between the bridge’s entry and exit lanes. The site will be rehabilitated and landscaped later in 2025. JCCBI also hopes to add a piece of public art to the redeveloped space in 2026, making the South Shore entrance more attractive for all users.
Impact on transportation
Work will be completed by the end of 2025, with no major impact on road traffic. The multipurpose path and sidewalk will remain open throughout the project, except for occasional night-time closures.
