Transfer of the northern and southern approaches to the federal government
BackOn April 1, 2015, the North and South approaches of the original Champlain Bridge and the federal section of Highway 15 were transferred from the Corporation to the President of the Queen’s Privy Council for Canada by order of the Governor General in Council, as part of the New Champlain Bridge Corridor Project.
The Corporation, however, remained responsible for the operation of these sections to ensure an efficient transition.
On November 2, 2015, the management of the North and South approaches of the original Champlain Bridge and the federal section of Highway 15 was transferred to Signature sur le Saint-Laurent, the consortium responsible for the New Champlain Bridge Corridor Project. The transfer included operations, maintenance and traffic management over these sections.

Ban on overload trucks
In October 2016, JCCBI banned overload trucks (Class 5 and 6 permits) from crossing the original Champlain Bridge. This preventive measure was taken to maintain key commercial activities for Montréal and to preserve the structural integrity of the bridge.
