Earth Day – JCCBI in Action

April 22 is Earth Day, a day when people the world over celebrate acts of green.

Although we always need to be eco-conscious, Earth Day is an opportunity to reflect on the actions we constantly take to help protect the environment.

One of JCCBI’s strategic orientations is to prioritize risk management and sustainable development as part of its organizational approach to asset management. We are taking green actions by developing environmental protection programs that we can be proud of!

Here are a few examples that we wanted to share with you this April 22:

SOLUTION BONAVENTURE: INNOVATING FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

Discover an extraordinary project to keep contaminated water from migrating into the St. Lawrence River. The Solution Bonaventure treats the equivalent of 10 Olympic-sized swimming pools of water every month! JCCBI’s environmental and sustainable development specialist, Roxanne Gratton, MSc (Geology), gives you all the details about the project.

FISH HABITAT AND WETLAND COMPENSATION PROJECTS

The deconstruction of the original Champlain Bridge will have an impact on fish habitat and wetlands in the area throughout the work period. Compensation projects will therefore be carried out to minimize this impact.

PROJECT TO DEVELOP FARMLAND INTO A GRASSY FLOODPLAIN FOR A CONSERVATION PROJECT IN SAINT-IGNACE-DE-LOYOLA

This compensation project consists of developing a piece of farmland on the edge of the St. Lawrence River in the Saint-Pierre Lake archipelago to create areas for fish spawning.
