The construction of three temporary jetties in the St. Lawrence to deconstruct the Champlain Bridge has of course interfered with the natural fish habitat in the river.
This is why JCCBI is implementing a compensation project in collaboration with Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) to develop a piece of agricultural land along the St. Lawrence River in the Saint-Pierre Lake archipelago.

For this project, nearly 30,000 plants (various types of trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants) will be planted near the water and around the islands this fall. This will provide good cover for birds and create substrates that are suitable for fish.
