Internship position at a unionized workplace – 37.5 hrs./week

Hourly pay between $16.50 and $20.50 (current salaries), depending on the candidate’s scholarship and experience

Length of internship: 4 months / Fall 2021, exact dates to be confirmed


As a manager of important infrastructure, The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (the Corporation) is a federal Crown corporation established in 1978 that is responsible for the Jacques Cartier Bridge, the Champlain Bridge, the Champlain Bridge Ice Control Structure, the Île des Soeurs Bypass Bridge, the federal sections of Bonaventure Expressway and the Honoré Mercier Bridge, as well as the Melocheville Tunnel.

Every day, the Corporation ensures a safe drive for thousands of users by managing, maintaining and repairing this important infrastructure for Greater Montreal. The Corporation also ensures that these critical structures remain safe, fully functional and aesthetically pleasing both today and in the future. It conducts construction, rehabilitation and reinforcement projects on the infrastructure under its responsibility and oversees the operation and maintenance of these structures.

Reporting directly to the Director, Champlain Projects, the Intern, Champlain Projects actively helps implement JCCBI’s project-based management approach to track the milestones and goals of the Corporation’s various projects.

The Intern, Champlain Projects also works closely with the Project Coordinator and all our team to track, implement and control project processes. The intern will also be involved in the deconstruction project for the original Champlain Bridge.


  • Provide assistance to project managers and engineers, particularly by providing relevant information to prepare various analysis tables, methods or reports and following up on projects and/or structures;
  • Help update and track project-based management documentation;
  • Help with the follow-up of project deliverables;
  • Help maintain various project registries and plans;
  • Help develop a project dashboard;
  • Help the Engineers prepare budgets and produce regular progress reports;
  • Update documents to track the progress of construction work and ongoing project;
  • Help with the administrative management of special travel permits or lifting permits;
  • Attend post-mortem meetings and track as-built drawings;
  • Work closely with the Corporation’s partners;
  • Perform all other related tasks.


  • Be in a bachelor’s or master’s program in project management, administration, MBA, civil engineering, construction engineering, industrial engineering or the equivalent;
  • Have ASP certification to work at a construction site (an asset);
  • Be familiar with the standards for structures (bridges and viaducts) and roads as well as environment and site safety standards (asset);
  • Have good writing skills and be able to understand and interpret drawings and specifications;
  • Have proficiency in written and spoken French and an ability to communicate verbally in English;
  • Know how to use MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and MS Project;
  • Have an excellent ability to work on a team;
  • Show initiative and independence;
  • Have good organizational skills;
  • Have good time and priority management;
  • Be able to meet goals and deadlines.
