Your mission
JCCBI is looking for a Technician, Accounting to help fulfill the mission of the Finance Directorate which is stated as follows: In collaboration with internal and external partners, our department diligently produces and reports on financial information as per accountability requirements to help soundly manage public funds. Reporting to the Manager, Financial Operations, the selected candidate will perform a variety of tasks related to financial and general accounting, invocing, budget monitoring, and account review.
Main duties
- Participate in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Prepare end-of-period files and end-of-year audit files.
- Carry out accounting validations and provide accounting explanations.
- Prepare trial balances and statistical and financial reports.
- Support the accounts payable team with their responsibilities.
- Check invoices against purchase orders and/or contracts, in accordance with the rules and procedures of the Corporation.
- Process invoices, periodic payment requests and expense reports according to the work instructions and/or established policies.
- Prepare payment proposals that respect the terms and conditions of the Corporation and complete the payment cycle by EFT or check.
- Monitor various accounts and prepare invoices.
- Prepare bank deposits and provide proof of allocation of payments.
- Analyze prepaid expenses every month.
- Participate actively in monthly financial accounting tasks.
- Ensure continuity in the activity on supplier accounts.
- Reconcile contract holdbacks.
- Validate postings to the General Ledger accounts and prepare the necessary journal entries.
- Fill out and submit governmental forms such as GST/QST declarations, and prepare tax forms.
- Perform bank reconciliations.
- Offer support with the optimization of processes within the accounting department.
- Prepare acounting and budget files as needed.
- Create trace files and tracking tools as required.
- Support the Analysts, the Manager, Financial Operations and the Manager, Budgets and Management Information.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge related to accounting and tax regulations, i.e. new standards, laws and updates.
- Carry out any other tasks or responsibilities related to this position.
Experience and education
- Hold a minimum of a college diploma in accounting.
- Have a minimum of five years of relevant experience in financial accounting.
- Have working knowledge of a an integrated management software package and its financial modules.
- Be proficient in Excel (intermediate level).

- Have working knowledge of the following software: SAP Business ByDesign
