Your mission
PJCCI is looking for a Specialized Worker for the Operations and Maintenance department, who will participate in the department’s mission to ensure continuous monitoring and maintenance of the Corporation’s entire network and infrastructures to contribute to good traffic flow and keep users safe.
Main duties
Reporting to the Manager, Operations and Maintenance, you will work on a team to carry out a variety of specialized tasks related to bridge and road maintenance. You will perform minor maintenance, painting and mechanical repair work on buildings, structures and vehicles; perform snow removal at night; and do various types of plumbing and carpentry work.
- Perform a number of road-related tasks, such as spreading, raking and compacting asphalt.
- Carry out some painting work on structures.
- Perform some concrete work; assemble steel parts, including measuring, cutting and drilling; replace concrete curbs, etc.
- Reinforce, install and repair fencing.
- Repair semi-rigid barriers and impact attenuators; lubricate various bridge components; repair sheet metal components; repair and replace gutters.
- Perform drainage work by excavating ditches and cleaning, installing and backfilling conduits.
- Install signage, including necessary measuring, preparation, assembly and on-site installation.
- Clean and repair catch basins, lamp post bases and pavement.
- Close lanes and roads and perform traffic management on the network.
- If necessary, drive a service van and complete the related reports.
- Perform various types of woodwork, such as measuring, aligning and installing shelves, etc.
- Perform various types of plumbing work, such as repairing faucets, unclogging sinks, replacing gaskets, etc.
- Perform minor maintenance on certain vehicles, e.g., replace various position or clearance lights, replace rotating beacons.
- Maintain small gas-powered tools.
- Cut, weed and mow vegetation; maintain flower beds and remove graffiti.
- Clear snow and ice from driveways, access roads, structures and equipment.
- Maintain inventory and, if necessary, make requisition requests.
- Collect materials from various suppliers, check orders and set them up.
- Help keep MSDSs up to date.
- Perform caretaking tasks at the Corporation’s buildings and offices.
- Carry out all other tasks or responsibilities related to the position.
Experience and education
- Secondary V diploma.
- A valid class-5 driver’s licence; class 3 is an asset.
- ASP construction training mandatory.
- Good written and spoken communication skills in French.
- Excellent manual dexterity, versatility, and experience in this field.
Assets
- Class 3 driving license.
- WHMIS training, STC-101.

- It is essential to have a means of transportation because the workplace is not accessible by public transportation or by bicycle.
- Ability to work:
- In high structures and at variable temperatures.

- With various personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with current procedures (harnesses, breathing masks, etc.).
- Outside regular working hours during special events.
