JCCBI is responsible for managing the structure of the Québec Bridge, CN manages the rail deck, and the Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable du Québec is responsible for the road deck and the multiuse path. CN and MTMD have been responsible for their respective decks for several decades now.
It is too early to say. The goal is to ensure the long-term sustainability of this bridge. JCCBI will start with inspection programs including the assessment of the structure’s load-bearing capacity to prepare a rehabilitation plan for the Québec Bridge.
JCCBI plans to set up an office near the Québec Bridge, either in Lévis or Québec City, depending on the available space. The Québec City team will thus be able to develop a better understanding of the structure and its environment, better coordinate contractors and engineering consulting firms, and ensure close relations with the entire community.
