Dear Neighbour,
The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) is currently working on an ambitious reinforcement and paint project, on the entire metal structure of the Jacques Cartier Bridge and its approaches, to extend the service life of this Montreal icon.
Starting in September, JCCBI will carry this work in multiple phases, between Montreal and Île Sainte-Hélène, starting this summer until 2022. The first phase will take place in the Montreal sector, on the East side of the bridge, which will result in the complete closure of the sidewalk between Montreal and Île Sainte-Hélène, for approximately three months. Night closures have also been scheduled on the local network for the start-up and take-down of the work site.
Planned closures:
This phase will consist of different types of work on the steel structure that may cause noise and dust. To mitigate these impacts, an acoustic enclosure will be installed around the work area and sound readings will be taken to ensure that levels remain within those allowed in the noise management plan.
Furthermore, the temporary dismantling of some light fixtures of the Jacques Cartier Bridge illumination project will also be required throughout the work. To avoid a major impact on the Living Connections light show, an architectural canvas will be installed in front of the work area.
