Notice to residents | Longueuil: Continuation of major reinforcement work on the metal structure of the Jacques Cartier Bridge, November 11, 2017
November 28, 2017 Jacques Cartier Bridge

Dear Neighbour,

As previously announced, The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) recently started work in your sector to reinforce the metal structure of the Jacques Cartier Bridge to extend its service life until 2070.

In the coming days, the contractor will start sandblasting, painting, removing rivets, and replacing steel components from work platforms installed under the bridge structure and from boom lifts. Preparatory work to install acoustic enclosures over the entire work area will generally be done between 7:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Note that a listening and noise measurement station will soon be installed to the north of Saint-Charles Street near the work area to ensure that the noise stays within the levels established in the noise management plan. This measure is one of the requirements that JCCBI has established to minimize the impact of the work.

Over the next few weeks, work to install the platform above Saint-Charles Street will be done at night and will result in closures of this road. Between now and December 22, the bridge will be completely closed for one night during the week for work to replace a gusset under the deck.

Note that there will be a work break from December 23, 2017 to January 7, 2018.
