Dear Resident,

The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) would like to inform you that the construction ofa temporary pier in Brossard (under the original Champlain Bridge) has begun and will continue into spring and summer 2021.

This pier will be used to take down structural bridge components along the shoreline areas where barges cannot be used due to the shallow water depth.

This work could generate:

• Noise, especially during the construction and transportation of pier materials.
• Dust emissions.

JCCBI will monitor:

• Noise levels to comply with noise standards.
• Air quality using measurement stations to comply with standards.

Coexistence with boaters

• Maintenance of a navigation channel.
• Appropriate maritime signalling and necessary safety measures.
• Navigational advisory issued and circulated by the Canadian Coast Guard.

JCCBI is also carrying out projects to compensate for fish habitat that may be lost due to the construc- tion of the piers. These projects nevertheless represent a gain for the environment, as the construc- tion-site impacts are temporary, while the positives of the compensation projects will be permanent!

Note that the schedule may change depending on how the work progresses and on weather conditions.

In collaboration with Nouvel Horizon Saint-Laurent, JCCBI is organizing a first public meeting with resi- dents this fall, which will be in a virtual format due to the pandemic.

Once the public meetings have been scheduled, the dates will be posted on the Citizen Forum page via our website.
