The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) would like to advise pedestrians and cyclists that the multipurpose path and sidewalk of the Jacques Cartier Bridge will be closed for winter 2019-2020 starting on Friday, December 20 (10:00 p.m.).
During this period, the RTL will be running the VéloBus Jacques-Cartier, a shuttle for cyclists who cannot use the multipurpose path to cross the bridge by bicycle this winter.
In addition, JCCBI will carry out simulated winter operations as a closed-circuit project on the path with the help of 25 test cyclists. JCCBI is looking to refine its maintenance, monitoring and communications protocols under real conditions to evaluate the potential service level in winter that may be offered on the path.
The multipurpose path and sidewalk will reopen in spring 2020 as weather conditions permit and when the surface is safe for use by cyclists and pedestrians.
