Road Safety on Jacques Cartier Bridge is Everybody’s Business

5 November 2019

For almost ninety years, vast numbers of people have used the Jacques Cartier Bridge every day to travel between Montreal and the South Shore. These decades have seen an exponential increase in the number of vehicles on the bridge, and we invite all bridge users to respect the rules of road safety.

Come to a complete stop!

Be sure to come to a complete stop on the Île Sainte-Hélène pavilion ramps, which intersect with the bridge’s traffic lanes and the multipurpose path and sidewalk. For your safety and the safety of others, come to a complete stop!

Obey the speed limit!

The speed limit on the Jacques Cartier Bridge is 50 km/h. Make sure you follow the limit to avoid accidents. There’s no need to hurry!

Watch out for our workers!

Our workers maintain our structures for the thousands of people who use them every day. They perform a variety of tasks in sometimes difficult conditions. Keep an eye out for our workers, and thank you for helping to keep them safe!
