Good Neighbourly Relations Committee Jacques Cartier Bridge

30 October 2018

The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) wishes to inform users that major steel reinforcement work will take place under the Jacques Cartier Bridge, between Campion and Falardeau Street, starting on October 22. These works will continue until the end of fall 2019. This program will involve work on the steel structure that will consist of removing rivets and reinforcing the bottom chords and gussets, which could have local impacts. JCCBI has established concrete requirements to mitigate noise and dust from the site and reduce hindrances to traffic.

Planned mitigation measures:

  • Installation of an acoustic enclosure that fully covers the work area
  • Work mainly done during the day
  • Night work that does not produce noise for the most part (except for the work site start-up and take-down)
  • Installation of listening and noise measurement stations in the work area
  • Use of equipment with white noise alarms
  • Use of special tools with noise reducer

As we are aware of the impacts of this work on people in the area, JCCBI created a Good Neighbourly Relations Committee to establish an open a dialogue with local residents and business owners. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 14. Representatives from JCCBI, the monitoring team, the project contractor, the Ville-Marie borough, and the SPVM will attend the meeting.
