Champlain Bridge: Complete and permanent closure as of June 28

25 June 2019

The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) would like to advise road users of the complete and permanent closure of the Champlain Bridge as of Friday, June 28 at 10:00 p.m. This closure is required to let Signature on the Saint Lawrence (SSL) finalize the approaches before completely opening the Samuel De Champlain Bridge on Monday, July 1.

During the Canada Day weekend, Mobility Montréal is asking users to plan their travel, use public transit, or avoid the sector altogether.

Closure details

  • Complete and permanent closure of the Champlain Bridge toward the South Shore (between Hwy. 30 and the Île-des-Sœurs Bridge) as of Friday, June 28, at 10:00 p.m. A detour via the local network will be set up (see enclosed map).

Traffic measures during the Canada Day weekend:

  • Note that this work could be postponed because of unsuitable weather conditions.
  • Because of the complete closure of the Jacques Cartier Bridge on Saturday, June 29, from 8:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. for the first fireworks show of the summer, a single lane toward the South Shore will be open on the Champlain Bridge between 7:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. on an exceptional basis. Throughout the weekend, the Victoria Bridge will also be open toward the South Shore only.
