On April 25, students from the École secondaire Dalbé-Viau in Lachine got the chance to visit the contaminated water treatment system in the west sector of the Solution Bonaventure environmental project.
These science students are in the Soif de savoir, Soif d’agir program launched by Environnement Jeunesse, a water recovery and preservation project for Secondary 4 and 5 students on the Island of Montreal. Soif de savoir, soif d’agir has three complementary and independent components: training on global and Montreal water issues; a workshop on preserving and enhancing water quality so that students can develop their own ways to advocate for clean water; and ideas for projects so that they can take concrete action at school.
This initiative was made possible this year thanks to financial support from the Corporation (JCCBI). “This is a great opportunity for us to show our commitment to improve the water quality, aquatic ecosystems, and sustainability of the St. Lawrence River in a tangible and lasting way,” said Stéphane Vaquette from Engineering, Environment at JCCBI.
