As we transition to the winter season, The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI) is keeping a steady watch over weather conditions that may affect the safety of pedestrians and cyclists who use the Jacques Cartier Bridge.
Weather conditions on the bridge can be different from those on the shores of the river. There is a risk of black ice forming on surfaces used by pedestrians and cyclists whenever liquid precipitation and below-freezing temperatures are in the forecast. In this case, JCCBI issues a notice of a possible closure of the multipurpose path and sidewalk.
If the forecast turns out to be correct, JCCBI will temporarily close the path and sidewalk to ensure user safety and promptly notify users over social media and via text alerts.
JCCBI’s goal is to maintain access to the Jacques Cartier Bridge multipurpose path and sidewalk as long as weather conditions are suitable and the surfaces are deemed safe.
To get possible closure notices as well as closure notices and reopening notices for the multipurpose path and sidewalk, follow our Twitter account @pontJCBridge and sign up for our “Pedestrians and Cyclists” text alerts.
