The Réseau de transport de Longueuil (RTL) has announced that it is running a winter pilot project, in partnership with The Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated (JCCBI), to transport cyclists and their bicycles on a dedicated bus across the Jacques Cartier Bridge during peak hours.
From December 20, 2017 to April 13, 2018, the shuttle will go back and forth between the Longueuil terminus and Papineau metro station every 20 minutes, with a first departure at 6:00 a.m. in Longueuil and a last return trip from Montreal at 6:40 p.m. Cyclists will have to secure their bicycles on the bus with elastic straps for safety purposes. They will also have to pay the current fare rates in effect on the RTL network. The stop at the Longueuil terminus is at Door 41 of Wing F. The bus departs from Papineau metro station at the corner of Cartier Street and De Maisonneuve Boulevard East.
This shuttle service is a way for cyclists to get between Montreal and Longueuil this winter while JCCBI conducts a pilot maintenance project on the multipurpose path and replaces many sections of guard rail.
